When is a fagus nothofagus?

On Easter Monday, we walked in to the Tarn Shelf in Mt Field National Park for the obligatory annual appreciation of Tasmania’s only native deciduous plant, the Deciduous Beech, or Tanglefoot Beech – Nothofagus gunnii. It was not quite at the peak of its powers, but that didn’t stop half of Hobart trekking up there to see it! Still, a beautiful day to be up in the mountains with family and friends!
