Hobart coffee reviews

Just thought I would share links to reviews of my favourite Hobart java (other than Jon Lane’s Caffeination beans which I brew at home). Villino is my favourite of the three, but the other two are a close joint second. The OOmph review is, strictly speaking, a review of The Cupping Room, as the original OOmph on Liverpool Street doesn’t quite match the Cupping Room’s heights. Doctor Coffee is a classy new arrival which also uses Villino’s award winning roasts.

I would just like to add to the above: It would seem that OOmph/The Cupping Room is slipping. We both had terrible coffees there today – weak, sour and watery coffee, bad microfoam, no attempt at a proper pour, and underheated milk. I knew it was going to be bad too, when I saw that the guy who made them for us was the guy who used to be a “barista” at the Macquarie Street Foodstore, and never once served me a coffee I was remotely happy with. Oh well, at least the ever-reliable Villino is just around the corner!
